what kind of magnet do these pickups have? i have a feeling that it's alnico 2's.

can anyone recommend me SD pickups for my PRS 22?
although i LOVE the cleans of the dragon ii's, i find the bottom end of the bridge pup too flabby. i need a bridge pup with a tighter bottom end. the neck pickup sounds too mushy... especially when doing legato runs and sweep picking. all in all, i need a bridge pup thats awesome for heavy riffing and a clear neck pickup thats far from muddy, even with heavy amounts of distortion.
im looking at these combinations: DD/Jazz; Custom/Jazz; JB/59...
what do u guys think?

try a set of the pearly gates humbucker on your prs. got them on a les paul classic. to say that the pearly gates smoke is an understatement. i played it through a marshall jtm60. totally nailed the sound zztop got in the antenna and rhythmeen albums. tight bass. very good aggressive yet sweet sound. lots of harmonics. lots of character. it really rocks when you play dropped tunings and like to palm mute. sustains forever.
the jb's are good too but lack bass and are too shrill for my taste.
59's are great and have, to my ears, a very good clean sound.
i'm not a big fan of the duncan distortion. they sound just like the gibson 500t pickup that my les paul came with. it still has a good aggressive sound but kinda lacks character.
can't comment on the jazz as i've never tried them. but i hear they're bright.
it also depends on the natural sound of your guitar. if you have a dark sounding guitar, you might want to try the jb/jazz or the jb/59.

Reeds are "middy" by nature..so unless you like excessive mids I'd prolly recommend something like a C5 or 59...something without all the mids...
I tell ya the McCarty pups are sweet...specially the neck pup...I *may* replace the bridge though..I'd like something a bit more punchy/beefy but not neccessarily hotter.

I thought most considered a PRS to have considerably less midrange tha nsomething like a Les Paul or single cut guitar. then I guess a Les Paul would have a lot more mids? To my ears, a Les paul has mucho lows and highs...more scooped than a PRS.
