The wide/thin is similar to the Gibson 60's neck, and the wide/fat is similar to the Gibson 50's neck.
When PRS first came out, the necks were called regular, which were not quite as wide as modern wide, and they had a rounded C profile. Later on, PRS starting offering wide/thin, and even later with the McCarty, came out with wide/fat.
I think PRS offers all 3 profiles, but wide/fat has become the typical PRS shape.
