Are these actual NOS Modern Eagles from 8 years ago? It seems as though that is the case from the descriptions. If so, did they just set a ton aside back in the day knowing they would be collectible and so they could sell them later for a ridiculous price? Color me confused.

Yes they are genuine old stock from 2007! They had to stop production due to the change in legislation ref provenance of where the Brazilian wood came from etc. Some were pretty much complete guitars and some were at various stages of manufacture. According to PRS, some will have 2007 serial numbers with original hardware and the ones that were incomplete will get 2012 numbers with current hardware and pick ups! Depending on the price, it could be a great opportunity for someone to get an awesome guitar but there is obviously very limited numbers only available to the USA.
