PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude or anything like that, but i'm a bit confused...

You see, I just read through this whole thread and at the beginning you stated that if this guitar doesn't work out, you are never going to buy another import as they don't seem to match up to US made guitars (posts 16 and 17)

I'm guessing this guitar has changed those thoughts?

Anyway, not-trying-to-be-rude-rant-over, HNGD, and nice collection! If it really does beat your others, then you scored!

Whatever, dude. :scratchch

Hey man, not trying to insult you, I was just wondering if this guitar has changed your opinion on imports, but perhaps I misunderstood what you said earlier, and if thats the case, i'm sorry.

Anyway, it seems like you got a killer guitar, so have fun with it.

Sorry dude, I really am! Accept my apology...please.
Yes, my opinion of it has changed. As of right now, I really like this thing as much as my American made guitars. I also just installed 500K CTS pots and Rio Grande pickups! :)

It's all good. And it's good to see it has changed your opinions, there are some really nice imports out there, as you've just found, and of course, some shoddy ones as well. With those pups and upgrades, it must sound killer!

I had an SE24.

It sounded great and had excellent playability.

Just couldn't keep the damn trem in tune.

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Spent a lot of time playing this last night. Currently it has Hamer CTS pots, Orange drop caps, treble retention on the volume, and Rio Grande BBQ/Texas. It plays and sounds incredible. Better than my McCarty and Custom 22 to the point where I can not justify buying another American made PRS. The PRS Marsden SE is as good as any Les Paul I have played. Nice guitars!

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

I have to get out and try some more SE models! If I had known these SE series guitars were so good, I would never have purchased an American made PRS, ever. These SE models are that good. My Santana SE resonates better than my Cu22 or McCarty. It plays and sounds as good as my Les Paul and SG.

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

I never would have thought my favorite set neck PRS would be a Santana SE, beating out a McCarty, two Custom 22s and a Singlecut. Only other PRS I have owned that holds a candle is my 1994 CE-22.

The PRS McCarty has always been the biggest dissapoinment to me.

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Can understand but I never use a trem so mine is locked in place. I is not moving. LOL

This statement pretty much negates the one that you made elsewhere about the Korean vibrato bridge being the equal of the American unit.

Obviously, when blocked off, judging any performance difference between the two versions is going to be pretty much impossible. It also leaves me scratching my head as to why you wish to install locking machine heads at all?

I have PRS/Schaller "collar" locking machine heads on my PRS SE One but only because I happened to have them lying around, unused. Weight-wise and aesthetically, Grovers or Kluson replicas would have been a wiser choice.
