PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Can't wait to get a fret dressing on this baby, new pickups and maybe some locking tuners! Excited! :)

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

I have one with a Dimebucker in the bridge and a 59 in the neck....Sounds great!

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Finally set up the 2001 Santana SE I won on eBay. I haven't replaced anything yet.

But, so far, I like it more than my American made PRS Custom 22.
Both play well but the SE is more alive and resonant and this translates well through the amp. Way to go, PRS!

Only thing I do not like and need to change is the trem. It is set up as a floating trem. I never use a trem but I like the tone it imparts on the guitar. I need to find a way to lock it down or block it like my CE-22.

My 2001 Santana SE sounds better than my 2000 USA PRS Custom 22. Unreal. The look, build, tuners are so solid too. Frickin score!

:) :) :)

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Been drinking tonight Jer...your drunk, A-hole, run off at the mouth about things I have no idea about is running...

YOUR ABSURD TOO ( if you think that a korean se is ever going to be as good as a US Les paul ( and I'm assuming a Les Paul Std.)..well, maybe out of 100,000, 1 will. Maybe he has that one.

If you think a Korean Se is going to play or sound better than a US Custom 22, then your a bigger fool than I thought you were, which is almost impossible, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

I assume you have little experience, you must be young if you believe you have to buy an American made guitar to have a quality instrument. LOL!

LOL. OK dude, so stop over and try my SE. I have owned Custom 22s, two McCarties and a CE-22 from 1994 and that CE is my baby, love her.
This Santana SE I much prefer over my 2000 Custom 22. The Cu22 plays better, although slightly. Tonally, the SE sounds bigger and bolder both plugged in or acoustically. It is very acoustically loud, my Cu22 sounds sort of dull and thin. I have no complaints about the build of this SE either. Stunning. :approve:

Beautiful USA PRS guitars. Both play amazingly well. The Custom 22 sounds dull and flat acoustically and no pickups will solve the issue. My McCarty always sounded thin and my LPs and SGs always beat them out. My CE-22 is the winner of all my PRS guitars.

Amazing Santana SE. Built very well, stays in tune, feels and looks very solid. Plays great, very loud and full acoustically. Plugged in, it sounds bigger than my Custom 22 and bigger and fuller than my 2000 McCarty ever did. I installed Rio Grande BBQ/Texas set. I also have an SH-16/Jazz set on the way.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude or anything like that, but i'm a bit confused...

You see, I just read through this whole thread and at the beginning you stated that if this guitar doesn't work out, you are never going to buy another import as they don't seem to match up to US made guitars (posts 16 and 17)

I'm guessing this guitar has changed those thoughts?

Anyway, not-trying-to-be-rude-rant-over, HNGD, and nice collection! If it really does beat your others, then you scored!

Re: PRS Santana SE = Very impressive!

Those slanted inlays are gorgeous and well designed, they have always called me...LOL! :)

The Early trem Santana model always has been a favorite of mine regarding the SE models.
The trem models just have better resonance and life than stop tail PRS guitars.
I never use a trem so I just block it off and it does its job just fine.
I could always upgrade the trem but why?
I have guitars with American trems and Korean trems and damn if I can tell the difference, but I never use a trem. LOL

I think part if the attraction to me are those diagonal inlays, they are beautiful and call to me. LOL.
