Hi guys, im new to choosing pickups for guitars and I have recently become interested in changing my prs se 245's pickups for some seymour duncans but dont know which one to choose! I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations.

I play mostly rock such as the foo fighters, red hot chilli peppers, some blues rock such as the black keys and white stripes and also english indie rock such as the arctic monkeys.
I will also need to play some cleans with the pickup because a lot of the songs me and my band play are a mixture of clean and indie rock.

Thanks in advance to any replys!

The WLH set should suit you just fine for that. I've got them in my SE Korina and they rock in there.

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

I have just seen the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker Set and they seem a good choice for what im looking. They seem to have a wide range of tone and the bridge pickup has a high output so will be great for rock.
Has anyone tried these pickups before?

I'd rather put Custom instead of JB in that guitar.

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

My vote would NOT be for a JB in that guitar. A Custom and 59n would do better, but my vote would be for the Whole Lotta set too. Seth Lovers sound great in one too.

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

Thanks for the replys! Im going to try and order a whole lotta humbucker set soon, I will let you guys know how I get on with them

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

I tried to find the perfect Les Paul tone for years before the Whole Lotta Humbuckers came out, and never really settled on anything I liked. The Whole Lotta set has made the Les Paul the best sounding guitar I have.

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

My experience with mahogany bodied PRS SE models is that they luuuuuurve P90s. For the SE Singlecut 245, I would install P-Rails - either with a pair of US-made push-pull pots or via Triple Shot mounting surrounds.

I would also strongly recommend this selector switch. http://www.freewayswitch.com/information/about.html From amongst the downloadable .pdf schematic diagrams, I suggest #7 "HH Phase & Single Coils 2V/2T". (I adapted it for 1V, 1T.)

Re: PRS SE 245 Pickup recomendations

that's a wide range of replys. but clearly you don't want the HotRod, because they are awesome for different stuff, but NOT what you listed.
Def you want a PAF classic sound because of the Black Keys, blues aspect. 59s are great for the price, WLH & Custom are beefier.
i think you should get Seths or Ants- theyre a bit more, but theyre the end of the line. Everyone here tries different models, & rarely if at all does anyone ask what would upgrade a Seth or Antiquity hb (which should be renamed the Antiuity Seth.) They have lots of character- super guitar-y- and for power, just crank more amp.
