PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

I can certainly see me picking one up to try should there be one in the next store I should happen to frequent. To do anything less would be rude surely...

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

I'm really happy about PRS thinking about metal players. It is a smart move and this guitar has almost all I want in a guitar, but I don't care for the Floyd and the EMG. I love slick fretboard like these.

Looking forward to try one, but does anyone know what the cost will be up in Canada?

This is pretty darn good looking if you ask me:

Im so loving this gray one! The red looks good too.. All the press has been stellar as it always is for PRS. Guitar world gave it a great write up and a platinum award. (everything PRS gets platinum...)

Im interested, except for emgs.. Everything has emgs these days...

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

The way this company is headed...I just don't feel too bad about getting rid of two of their guitars already.

I don't think I'll need to make room for a third. ;]

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

I'm thinking of getting one.

when I can afford one.

And swapping the pups for either blackouts or some nice passives.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

Come to think of it, I would much prefer a PRS kinda shape to another strat shaped guitar. I have a weird feeling that a rounder backside and shorter horns make the guitar balance not necessarily better, but better in a way that's way more comfortable to play, in terms of where it sits when standing.

Also that volume knob placement is a dream! Volume knobs super close to the bridge pickup really bug me.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

imo, the only real PRSes that are worth it are the McCarty and the McCarty Hollowbody.

Both of those are some of the best guitars I've ever played. That still doesn't stop me for GASin' for a Mira. Don't even know why, just something cool about it.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

MAN! this would be my dream guitar
if it had a fixed bridge instead of trem
and SD instead of EMG
and rosewood instead of Ebony
And a narrower fretboard
And a real maple top

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

It looks ok... but it's not what I'd call cheap for a Korean guitar with a Floyd.
It'll probably do well as it's different from your usually oriental superstrat... but they're going straight up against the heartland of Ibanez in terms of price and features... and they have just about every single base covered in the realm of the superstrat.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

Is it better than a Schecter, though? It's a Schecter killer, right? Would you pay an extra $200 to $300 for it? If so, why?

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

So my friend sets me up on a date with this guitar. He says "she's a PRS, dude ... you're gonna love her!" I was, like "cool! Give me her number!"

So I get to the date, and she's there with this totally hot trans red flame finish. But then when I see her up close, I notice the Floyd. Yeah. And THEN I see her EMG 81 and 85. Man, what a disappointment!

I chatted with her for about half an hour, then I made up some excuse and got the f out of there. That's the last time I let my friend set me up.

I lol'd. It would be your dream guitar, if it was totally different!

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

Two weeks ago I went to one of the big stores around here and I asked the saleman if they were gonna have some PRS Torero anytime soon and he told me they probably would not order any, because it would affect their sales on Ibanez and Jackson.

Seriously... w t f

P.S.
Can you block a Floyd Rose so it becomes pretty close to a fixed bridge?

Goofy guitar shops - let's not stock what people are interested in so that if someone is truly interested in it, they can buy it from someone else. :eyecrazy:

As for blocking a Floyd, it can be done. On my Grosh ElectraJet, there's a small piece of wood in the trem cavity that allows the bridge to only drop in pitch. That might be enough to do what you want. If not, I suppose a second small block of wood could be fitted to also stop the Floyd from changing pitch at all, but I guess that would beg the question about why someone would buy a guitar with a Floyd in the first place.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

the black ones kinda ok, but the red one makes me want to vomit in my mouth and swalow it again. is it just me? or is see thru red running effin rampant these days. beaten into the ground style.

Re: PRS SE Torero: FLOYD, NECK-THRU, EMG

Sorry guys to make this thread come out again, but I finally had the chance to try one!

One of my local shop recently decided to sell PRS guitars and they have so much it is making me crazy (they even had one of the 25th anniversary Custom 24 with neck bindings:eyecrazy:). So as I saw the Torero I was all excited and the guy plugged me in a Line 6/Bogner tube head thru a 4x12 cab. (I was like what the ****, I'm used to play on a Roland Cube 30x...).

DAMN IT ROCKED! I think it played like 4 times better than my current PRS SE Custom 22. I was way more confortable and damn it sounded great. The neck kinda felt like a Jackson Soloist with a gloss finished neck. Pictures of the red finish doesn't make it justice IMO. It was damn sexy and the neck access is delicious.

At first I thought it was the amp that made me love it so much but I tried few other guitars (Jackson Dominion, Godin Redline, Schecter 7...) and nothing felt as good.

For 950ish $, I want one this summer. :argh:

Wow, what timing... I stumbled across the grey/black Torero at GC while trying out a TSL602 just this Sunday. Ended up leaving with both the amp and the guitar.

This guitar is amazing. Mine had near perfect setup and fretwork right off the rack. It's very resonant acoustically, and when plugged in I found it bright and still warm. My only gripes are that the heel could have been sculpted inward a bit more, the 3-way lever switch (I like the Gibson style toggle) and I would prefer individual tone controls.
