PRS Tremonti pickup?

How is it? I read it was based on the Gibson 500T. Is it? Is it super hot?

Any info you guys can give me on it? How does it compare to the usual suspects like the Duncan Distortion?

Thanks!

According to PRS specs the Tremonti bridge is wound to 15.42 with a ceramic mag.
If that ceramic is double thick it could be in pretty much the same ballpark as a Distortion bridge.
I doubt it has the extra ceramic spacers like a 500T, but I can't say for sure.

Never played a Tremonti, but I love the DD set in one of my Les Paul Customs.

Very comparable to both Distortion and 500T and I am pretty sure it does have the same magnet set up as the 500T, PRS used to describe it as having three custom ceramic magnets. Very similar tonewise to an HFS as well, great pickup!

The Tremonti bridge pickup is a proper "distortion" class pickup and the output is on par with the 500T, Black Winter, etc.

It's basically a smoother 500T, but still has some of that same edge and grit that the 500T is known for. I think I once called it the love child of a Duncan Custom and the 500T...I'd be curious to know if anyone else feels the same way.

I do know that, if I had a 500T, Distortion, Black Winter, etc. in my guitar already, I wouldn't bother to swap any of them out for a Tremonti. However, if I was upgrading from a lower output pickup and found a good deal on a Tremonti treble, I would jump on it in a heartbeat!

Interesting, thank you! Yeah, no, I won't be replacing the Black Winter or X2N in my Les Pauls. This may be for the Telecaster I posted about some time ago. I'm thinking about going full humbucker on it and having it routed. I suspect I won't be satisfied with the Hot Rails coming from Black Winters and X2Ns, LOL.
