Thats not a drop, that's what they charged before isn't it??? Liars lol

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

Looks like they just dropped them back to what they were before the annual price hike.

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

I am not the kind of guy that thinks $2699 is a whole lot different than $2299. Drop the price $1500 and I might look at them.

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

I played the 2018 Gibson Firebird the other day (I think it was around 1500.00) . and I thought it was terrible, that vintage neck profile and radius felt like imports I used to play as a kid in pawn stores. Gross. Also, the tone didn't really jump out at me as a Firebird.

The blue ES-335 looks nice.
But I am just looking at Epi Dots.
All my MIA were second hand.

Hmmm....so any price drop that involves merely going back to a point the guitar was priced at any time in its history is not a real price drop......hence if a Standard is not dropped to a price cheaper than it was in 1976 when the standard was 'officially' introduced, somehow people are being cheated......

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

I really think that with much more affordable guitars on the market from Fender, Reverend and even Harley Benton, these guitars are seriously over priced. When you can get a made in the USA, hand made, made to spec Keisel for $1K, why would you even consider buying a $2500 assembly line Gibson?

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

In 1959 a Les Paul was $375. Adjusted for inflation that is $3198.84

Re: PSA 2018 Gibson price drops in GC

I’m not happy unless the price is twenty percent below the manufacturer’s unit cost.

Give me the same materials and construction, and I will buy several. Currently, a 1959 VOS reissue with a Brazillian fretboard is about $10k.

$2500 for a $1200 guitar such a deal.
Buy used, private seller.

I didn’t say it wasn’t a real price drop or that anyone was being cheated, nor did I say any time in its history. But it is conspicuous that in order to sell them ultimately the price doesn’t change much.

I just built a Kiesel CS6 (LP style) and it came out to $2500. To Kiesel's credit the board is ebony and the top is flamed, but the binding is only painted on.
