Cool demo - sounds like it's got a nice growl going on.

I got one last time they ran this sale. You have to spend a little time learning how the knobs interact but once you do its a powerful tool.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

I like the pedal.

Not sure what it was he was playing with that 'burst Les Paul, but I'm stealing some of that. That there was some "Swampy Rock" goodness.

Gain, Volume, Parametric B/M/T and "Depth"? That's gotta take some tweaking.

I’ll buy ten and then just sell 9 of them for 60 bucks when the deal is over.
Edit:
Done that so reverb is going to be flooded with cheap DOD Boneshakers.

Need some info on this bad boy, price is just too good.

Can you turn the distortion way down and use it like a clean-ish preamp with all the tone controls, or if you turn the distortion way down does it just sound like a weak distortion signal you can't really use? (i.e., some distortion pedals sound like crap at super low gain)

Rats. found a video with gain all the way down and still too dirty to use as a clean preamp

It's best used to boost or shape other dirt pedals or to slam the front of a dirty amp. I like it but it doesn't live on my main pedal board.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Fired mine up today, pretty cool and for $35 shipped it sounds better than a lot of other distortion pedals. I’m tempted to find a Gunslinger now too.

(By the way, the Carcosa fuzz from the same line is a damn goood fuzz too)

I went in on it, too. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it; I don’t have a bass, and my only extended-range guitar is a Gibson-scale jazz box with mini humbuckers. So now I need to buy a solidbody seven-string or a baritone. Baritone seems like a good idea. Or a 27” seven.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

It doesn't NEED extended range or bass notes to work... sounds fine in standard tuning. It just has a very broud spectrum to work with and the Resonance knob in particular makes it useful for lowend.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Nerp-nerp.

To put it another way, I’d like to be able to exploit the lower notes on a seven or a baritone. But I’ll settle for E-flat on a guitar with 10’s for now.

Don't be scared. .10s can go down to D standard if you force em. I have two Gibson-scale guitars strung with .13s tuned to C standard... they hold up fine.

Or yknow just buy more guitars, that's cool too :smokin:

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Definitely buy more guitars. I’ve played baritones, and I like them. I like the scale length and the big fat strings.

Part of the appeal (for me) of baritones is that you don't have to use big fat strings or reduced tension to lower the pitch.
I can barely handle 25.5" lol, so baritone sure isn't for me, but being able to use smaller strings and have good tension while tuned low is all win IMO.

The classic Carvin/PRS 25" is definitely my favorite, and on them I actually prefer to use the exact same string-gauges for a given tuning as I do on my 25.5" guitars.

Back to the OP, I checked the price a few hours after I orderedd mine, and it’s a bit less of a bargain now, but Amazon had them for $53. You can’t imagine how many used listings there are from GC, and both new and used listings on Reverb.
