PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Don't be scared. .10s can go down to D standard if you force em. I have two Gibson-scale guitars strung with .13s tuned to C standard... they hold up fine.

Remember awhile back on here when you'd mention putting 12s or 13s on a regular guitar, tuning down to B, and a zillion people would start screaming about how you NEED extended scaled guitars to tune down? Then you'd go, "What about all the death metal bands that pioneered this stuff?" Then they'd reply, "Well, your low E string isn't going to intonate properly beyond the 10th fret" or whatever.

Internet message board trends are funny.

I don’t have enough guitars to just pick one and string it up heavy for down-tuning. I keep 9’s and 10’s on them for a reason, and I would miss them the way they are now if I changed that. If I’m buying another guitar, I’d might as well get what I really want. I get a kick out of baritones; no reason not to get one.

I’m tempted to find a Gunslinger now too.

I watched a few videos of the Gunslinger earlier today. The Andy one was great, but Chappers put the smack down on 80’s lead playing with it. I am totally going to get one.

New at $149.95?

So the latest reports are that the entire Digitech/DOD team has been let go... so maybe look for more deals in the near future?

That sucks. This news made me pull the trigger on a DOD pedal I've been eyeballing. Old yeller:

I know there's the re-issue but I'd rather have something from the 70s-80s, that stuff always sounds better to me.

I don't tune down these days but I've been pretty happy using the Boneshaker occasionally as a feedback-on-demand box. And an old DOD BiFET preamp has been a secret weapon for a long time.

Wondering if they're going to keep making the designs they have now? Been thinking about a Looking Glass, even though I need another drive box like I need a hole on the head. In terms of sales numbers I gather DOD has been doing quite well so I'm thinking they're unlikely to cease production. And Tom Cram mentioned that they have some cool stuff in the tubes for future release. But I'm not sure whether all the current FX will continue.

The Boneshaker is an unbelievable Slayer pedal.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

It was hard to make it not sound like Slayer. It was pretty convincing at anything reasonable.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

Slayer's left and right tracks were night and day, King's being very crunchy and almost nasal while Jeff's were wide and scooped(my preference actually).
They definitely shared that blunt aggressive character though.

A little tweak of the EQ, and it easily does either. At least that’s what I remember.

Re: PSA - DOD boneshaker (black arts) for cheap

That's the strength of this pedal. It's a supercharged parametric EQ with dirt. If you have a good distortion sound, you can use this to make another, different, good distortion sound.

Fine, enough already! If this stomper ever goes on sale again, please post it (again). On Harman's site, you can't find any reference to DOD anymore.
