Pseudo honeymoon phase... I hope my ears hang on to hope.

Just got two Green Berets plugged into my 2x12 pushed by a JCA20H head. This might have fixed everything that was wrong with the EL84 output section.

I came from a Wizard and a Governor, which is a fantastic speaker combo. But there was some harshness in the top end that could never be fixed in the room. Whenever I would record something with my phone, it would sound pretty good. But in the room, there was just something wrong. Get the treble up to where it's crunchy, and it would require me backing off the tone knob on an overdrive pedal. Presence? Turn it WAY down. And it was never quite there.

I still need to tweak my amp settings a bit, because single-note lines with the Green Berets as is are a bit thin. And the bass is a bit too flabby set up the same way (need to tweak the depth knob a bit), but the mids are perfect. Cleans are beautiful, the best I've ever had, and I just need to spend more than fifteen minutes to coax out the thick crunch I know is in there.

Where have Greenbacks been all my life?!?

So I am assuming it arrived safe and sound :)

Good.

G12ms have come back into vogue for very legitimate reasons.

The green berets are a bit leaner for single note stuff than the celestion versions, but yeah..they all seem thin compared to H mags. They require some eq finesse to keep from overloading them in frequencies they dont handle well. I like the 12h/12m mix of speakers for this reason.

And here's I, waiting for a Governor to show up to mix it up with my Eminence Wizard in a 2x12. :D

"Just got"...if that means they're brand new, break-in may also improve your sound. Play them loud and hard through all frequencies to accelerate break-in.

or use a tone generator to expedite the process

I think I need to spend a few minutes working with the EQ first. Then I'll have to decide if I need to increase the output of the bridge humbucker in my LP. I have a Demon in there now, but it may take my Custom or Crazy 8 to thicken it up a bit. And yes, Jeff, a pleasure doing business with you. I can see you are as anal as I am about keeping original boxes.
