...ON SOME NOS TUBES!
I had my heart set on a NOS Tesla EL84 and a NOS Tesla E83CC (for added headroom and brightness), but the E83CCs were sold out on the day I wanted to order them so I waited and shopped around some more. I figured that I want to experience the whole thing of NOS tubes, so Ill go for some really good ones on my first time and take care of them (let the amp warm up for a lot longer than I have been :smack: ).
So I did some looking around and found this place: Brent Jessee recording. You had to call him up with your order (no add to cart thing) and I called him up and talked to him a little bit and my mom talked to him to make sure he was legit. Very nice, very knowledgeable, recomended me some other tubes that were similar to the ones I wound up getting but were much cheaper, but I decided to get the hyped ones cuz I had some cash to blow anyway. Got a RCA Blackplate 50s 12AX7 and an RCA Blackplate 50s EL84. I didnt get the brand perfect condition ones, I got the ones that said sligtly worn label, never used, may be labeled as a different company and may come in white boxes. I dont need the original boxes and the other label did not bother me. The price on them were very good and were as much as those other brands costed compared the the normally high price of the RCAs.
Got them today (they were expected to come in at the end of the week but I got them way earlier), packaged really tightly, everything looking good. They were labeled RCA anyway, which was good and the label was in almost perfect condition on the EL84, not as good on the 12AX7 but it was legible and good enough (you could tell it was labeled RCA). Im going to put them in over the weekend when I have some time. I gotta get my dad to help me cuz if I break them while putting them in, I need someone to put the blame on :fingersx: But hes the master technition anyway :laugh2:
The guy that sent me the tubes sent me instructions on how to put them in (he knew I was a youngster) and all about breaking them in and stuff like that. Detailed written thing about a page long, very helpful. Very nice, very satisfied with everything. I just gotta make sure that they dont crap out on me, but his guarantee should cover it if they are garbage (they almost never are messed up).
I dont want to look like an advertisement or look like Im spamming, so I wont put a link up, but you can always google Brent Jesse Recording if you are looking for some good tubes. I cant wait to put them in. The groove tubes 12AX7 I have in there really made my tone weak and thin compared to what it was. The RCAs should give it that extra fat tone with a great warmth to them.
