i have decided to revamp my jag with a set of duncan rails but i am not sure which ones to use i am thinking either a cool rails in the neck with a hot rails in the bridge postion OR a vintage rails in the neck position with a cool rails or hot rails in bridge position

lemme kno what u guys think? is it alright to mix and match sets like this?

another thing ...do u think the hot rails will be to much output for the jag to handle? i would like to keep the "plucky" sound of the guitar with the ability to rip out a driving rythym without losing clarity....HELPPPPPP!

cool rails neck and hot rails bridge is a killer combo. Have that in my strat now with a vintage rails middle.

I agree with this, but its only because of your last sentence that I would also suggest a Cool Rails bridge/Vintage Rails neck. You won't go wrong with either combo.

All 3 are wicked pickups. My Hamer Mirage has one of each in it. I'm a huge fan of the Cool Rails and Hot Rails as I have a few of each. Here's my take:

If you want a heavy axe that can get some killer dirty blues tones and some decent cleans, go for a Hot Rails/Cool Rails set and split the pickups.

If you want an ultra versatile axe that can do anything with the right amp - sparkling cleans, bluesy licks, and something heavier under higher gain - then I would go with the Cool Rails/Vintage Rails combo.

The Vintage Rails has better cleans. The Hot Rails does better heavy stuff and the Cool Rails is right in the middle. The CR doesn't excell at anything IMO. But it does everything well. It is a killer pickup in its own right.

Perfectly said. ;)
