the CC is just like the JB in that it will only work to the top of its ability depending on what guitar you put it in. You have to find with which guitar body, wood and amp that will compliment the pickup the best.
The JB sounds killer in an alder body "super" strat through a Marshall. Very articulate and defined with just the right amount of rawness to its sound. But the JB will sound a bit on the muddy and dull side in a mahogany LP. The mahogany just doesnt compliment the JB as well as the alder does.
With the CC......I have one in my maple dody kramer. The bright maple body compliments the CC just right so that it is not muddy but very chuncky sounding with rounded off highs but still articulate. The bright nature of the maple and the somewhat darker, smoother nature of the CC compliment eachother pefectly!
