Pups For My Restored/Modded Ibanez RG570

Re: Pups For My Restored/Modded Ibanez RG570

Thanks very much! Are you using the sealed Blackouts? I like the idea of the Gus G set which are essentially passives with an external amp. I've always been scared of actives as being one-trick ponies (I'm going by their reputation here, I have never owned an axe equipped with actives myself). I do play mainly metal but I also love Shawn Lane, Stevie-Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson and a host of others. But then again, I guess I should just bite the bullet, make the RG my full-on shred metal axe and get a strat for the rest.

Yes I use blackouts with black plastic cover.
You will get better blues tone from PAF style pickups for sure, but the blackout is not one trick pony.
Especially if you play rock, metal, IMO it's not that different from high output passive, except it has better signal to noise ratio.

If you're looking for Gus G tone then you should definitely get his signature pickups. It's really interesting but I can't get past the tribal graphic. Too cheesy LOL.

And yes, you should get a strat for SRV, EJ stuff. I have a strat for playing hendrix-y, SRV, John Mayer stuff.
Ibanez RG and blues just doesn't mix well :lmao:

Welcome to the forum! GREAT looking axe!!

in my RG570, I have a PATB3 in the bridge for a real fat sound, a Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Blues in the mid and a duncan 59b in the neck.. I get a ton of great tones. The only thing I might would change is maybe go with a PATB2 in the bridge for alil more attitude..
