Push/pull pot question

Hello everybody,
first of all happy new year!!!!

i have two questions about push pull pot for guitar.
i've been wiring my guitar with this diagram 2H_3G_1V_1TppSPL.pdf
and works great but i want to change something.

In this way of wiring, when i start play, it's on single coil mod. only if i pull up the pot i have a full humbucker.
there is any way to switch this? start playing with humbucker and pulling up get the single coil?

another question: what is the difference if i use Tone pot push pull or Volume pot push pull?

Change the wiring so the ground is closest to the pot with the red/white still in the middle. The lugs furthest away from the pot shouldn't be connected to anything.

It makes no difference if you use the tone to split instead of the volume.

Don't feel bad...I've done this once, too...in my case, I just read the diagram wrong rather than thinking how the switch actually works.
