Putting same humbucker in two very different guitars

I've noticed that putting a humbucker in the bridge slot of my Strat (alder body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard) sounds warmer/looser than when I put that very same humbucker in the bridge slot of my Les Paul Standard (where it sounds tighter and more present). Is this the typical difference in sound one would expect between those two guitars?

Hmmm, what did you expect?

What kind of bridge does the Strat have?

Re: Putting same humbucker in two very different guitars

Floating, but coverting it to hardtail with tremol-no makes no significant audible difference.

Les Paul's and Strat's are VERY different animals........the same pickup will not make them sound alike. For years I swore by a Duncan Distortion in a Les Paul and a JB in an Alder bodied Strat....I pretty much stick to that today.........

I realize that these guitars are VERY different and that they will impart they own sound. My question was whether the sound difference I described is what is typical.

Does the les Paul have a maple cap and a ebony board. If yes then I can see this very easily

Yep- it does. Does this imply that I can enhance my Strat's presence and tighten up its low end if I were to miraculously add a maple cap to its body?

Re: Putting same humbucker in two very different guitars

But they're both made of wood :confused:

No.

Bridge question?

Re: Putting same humbucker in two very different guitars

The bridge humbucker placement in LPs seems to be slightly closer to the saddles than in Strats. This could explain it.

Re: Putting same humbucker in two very different guitars

i feel scale length and style of trem/bridge matter the most when it comes to comparing the two. what sounds 'better' is totally up to you
