OK, here goes.

When you have a humbucker in the bridge, you want to have as follows. A RW/RP neck, a normal middle, and then a normal bridge. You do not have to rewire the bridge pickup for a reverse sound in order to accommodate your rwrp ssl. If i recall correctly, you'll have an incredible amount of hum if they're wound the same way, and it'll sound out of phase. Just go on wymoreguitars.com and order up a normal SSL-1, and put it upstairs.

An S-S-S works best like this:

SSL-1 (normal)
SSL-1 (rwrp)
SSL-1 (bridge)

For hum cancelling in the positions of 2 and 4.

However, since a HB has a normal and rwrp together, and if we follow HSS rules of:

SSL-1 (rwrp)
SSL-1 (normal)
HB

Thus, if we are to assume that the only other pickup is the neck one (no middle), then we can simply move the polarity of the middle pickup up to the neck position, and insert the pickup before the HB (which is normal). Thus, you could put in the "normal" SSL-1 and be fine.

Get a normal (non rwrp) SSL-1.

(I checked my strat's guts to see how it was wired too)

Ok thats cool and thanks for the tip, i understand better how it works. However i don't really want a middle position pickup and the pickguard is only H/S, what options am i left doing

Re: Q: rwrp ssl in neck + bridge humbucker wiring

right, so just take the SSL-1 (normal) and plop it in the neck, leave nothing to the middle, and the bridge will be your HB. The only time you need rwrp is if you want HSS. Since you want HxS, just put a normal SSL-1 up top and be done.

Re: Q: rwrp ssl in neck + bridge humbucker wiring

That sounds extremely complex.
I'd have just wired it in, if it worked great, if not, switched the hot and ground wires on the single coil.
THEN I'd start looking deeper!

I'm lazy! :)

only trouble is i just have the ssl rwrp, i dont have another normal ssl pickup

Re: Q: rwrp ssl in neck + bridge humbucker wiring

so buy one. I didn't intend to make things complex, but i can explain things better than i can draw them. I'm sure there's a music shop in the UK that sells SD SSL-1 (normal variety)

Re: Q: rwrp ssl in neck + bridge humbucker wiring

i'll see what happens when i install it. I read a few old threads about rwrp made things clearly understood.

I've no intension to have a middle pickup, pickguard is not notched for one and i purposely made this guitar to be just hum bridge, sc neck. If there are any phase problems i'll switch the wires first. I suppose final worst case if i need to i'll flip the bridge magnet.

Thanks for suggestions

I didn't mean you made it complex Ganzo, just that the subject is complex. ;)
