Quarter pound for tele... balanced output ???

Hi !

I just installed a set of 1/4 pounder in my Telecaster (part caster w/ Bigsby).
Those pickups sounds great, but I was wondering if it was normal for the neck
pickup to be lower in output than the bridge ? it sounds different than the pickup
it replaced (Alnico 2 Pro for Tele) but not stronger volume wise... is it normal ?

On the other side, the bridge pickup is a monster compared to the SD Jerry Donahue
that was in there before.

It's not a wiring or height issue by the way...

The neck measure 11k ohm DC...

Thanks for your help !!

Re: Quarter pound for tele... balanced output ???

Yeah the 1/4 pound is a MONSTER Of a pickup. Neck pups are normally going to be cooler wound get get a balanced sound with the bridge because the neck slot is "louder" due to placement.

Re: Quarter pound for tele... balanced output ???

0k but is it normal that the STL-3 is WAY louder than the STR-3 ??

I cannot pass from neck to bridge without adjust the volume knob...
I suppose that it's normal since the bridge is wound about 5k hotter
but again, what do I know :naughty:!?! it's louder by, say, 25%.

I just want to be certain that I did not got a defective neck pickup.

Thanks again...

Phil.

Re: Quarter pound for tele... balanced output ???

Ive found that telecaster pickups are super sensitive volume wise with accordance to height, try lowering the bridge and raising the neck

Just curious . . . did you not like the JD? It's my favorite Tele bridge pup, and I've even done Antiquity's in there.

Oh, I actually love the JD... every time that I try a new pickup set, the JD & Al 2 Pro come back in soon after the honey moon...
