Quarter Pounders

Hello all.
I recently purchased QPs for my Vintage Modified 70s jazz bass. The neck p/u is much louder than the bridge p/u. I have adjusted the neck p/u so that it's further away from the strings. Is it normal for the neck p/u to be that much hotter?
Thanks.

Re: Quarter Pounders

yes, quite normal. there is way more string excursion closer to the neck so typically you need to keep the neck pup lower than the bridge. assuming you have the neck model in the neck and bridge model in the bridge (there is a difference) the neck would be louder if they are set at similar heights

Re: Quarter Pounders

They are in the correct position, unless they were marked incorrectly at the factory. I've adjusted the neck p/u quite a bit lower, and it's still louder. Just wondering if that was normal. Thanks for the quick response.
