Query re coil splitting theory

Please excuse my ignorance but can somebody explain why the dial a split still lets the HB remaın hum cacelling but the simple coil cut does not.. if you wire in a resistor to the coil cut to ape the dial a split can it be made hum cancelling or am I being stupid?

Re: Query re coil splitting theory

Spin-A-Split should be fully hum-cancelling ONLY when it is dialed up to full humbucker. As you dial it back, the hum comes back in. Roll it back to one coil completely gone and it should be as noisy as any switch coil split.

Re: Query re coil splitting theory

Now I really am puzzled! Can someone else confirm this?. The blurb with my Washburn guitar clearly states that the VCC Dial a splits are hum cancelling in all positions...Are they lying..I must admit that I do not seem to have any hum probs and I use the neck pup fully wound to single coil a lot of the time.
