Question about Antiquity Retrospec’d

Are the Antiquity Retrospec’d pickups wound in the custom shop like the standard Antiquities? I tried searching the forum and online, but there isn’t a lot of info about Retrospec’d pickups. Thanks in advance.

antiquities are wound on the old leesona winding machine, im sure the retrospec'd are as well. i think the only difference is they arent aged

I just got a set of these. No sign that they were made in the Custom Shop. They are non-aged Antiquities in an Antiquity box, but nothing says Custom Shop on it. They might have been but I can't tell.

Not a lot of difference as non-aged Antiquities basically are Seth's. There is a slight difference in the wind, but I will bet that is really to go with the aged Ants to get a little more vintage tone.

SD used to market Ants as they had been sitting around in your guitar for 60 years. If you travelled back in time 60 years and grabbed pickups off the shelf, you would have Seths.

Ants are cleaner and clearer without the honk that Seths have. Both are extremely touch-sensitive and best if you use clean up until about Plexi levels of gain.

I appreciate the feedback, but does anyone know if the Retrospec’d pickups are wound in the custom shop like the regular Antiquity, or are they production line? If they are production line then I’ll just get set of Saturday Night Specials or Whole Lotta for the same price.

again, both the regular antiquity and retrospecd are wound on the leesona winding machine. i would pick the pups that are going to give you the tone you want. the sns, wlh, and antiquity dont sound the same.
