Hey Strat guru's.. Do the Mexican strats, older one's at least or new one's have that swimming pool route under the pick guard? I'm just cuirous.. I've got a chance on a good deal on a white one with rosewood board which is what I'm wanting.. but I want to make sure it's not got that route.. I don't want to have to ask the guy to remove the pick guard though..hehe..

Re: Question about Mexican Strats..

Even if it is a swimming pool route, you really can't hear a tonal difference.

read this: After approximately 1998, 1-humbucking (bridge), 2-single coil. Before that, they may have been "swimming pool" routed.

anway, if you wanna get a mexi, get the ones made after 2000, they are alder. the older ones are poplar.(or so the site says)

Mines a 99 and it's HSS too.

I wouldn't worry about the route to much though; in my opinion there's so many more important things that influence your guitars tone to a much greater degree than that one.
