THis amp is good for my use. The only problem i'm coming across is getting the tubes to really power the amp. The only way to do it is to turn it up really loud. Which is too loud for my use. I can't turn it past 3 or 4 without being too loud. Is there a way i can turn it up louder, but get less volume, and at the same time allowing to tubes to really push the amp?

A solution might be using an attenuator. It's a device that sits between the amp and teh speaker and regulates the signal. However this will affect the tone of the amp.
But inherently the problem is that the amp is just too loud for you. If this is a major problem then you might consider looking at a smaller amp for your needs.

I've got a volume pedal stuck at the end. But it gets rid of the really driven sound that my effects loop puts out. I'll just work with it for a while and tweak as much as i can. The best thing i've found is to turn the drive channel on the amp on but turn the drive at 1 or 2 and turn the master up to about 6. I was just curious if there's anything i can do to really bring my amp to life.

I set my master very low and just crank the channels volume.
That's what a master is for, but still, you have to remember, a better master volume pot would help this problem.
Does it seem like your turning it and it gets like ... incrementally louder? Or smoothly louder?
If its incremental, you would benefit from an audio taper pot for a master volume, I'm guessing it'd be pretty cheap for an amp tech to do.
You could always get an attenuator in worst case scenero. :burnout:

The volume box trick works well. It cost me about $10 in parts at radio
shack to make one. Also what tubes do you have in it? I pulled the original
GT 6L6's out of mine. I was stunded to see they are really Sovtek 5881's.
Groove Tubes just stamped 6L6GC over the 5881
. I put a pair
of old GE 6L6GC short bottles I've had for ever in my HRD and the amp
got warmer and fuller sounding. To bad them tubes are on there last leg.
I think I'm going to go with the TAD 6L6's.

I've got the seymour duncan pickup booster and it kicks ass. I'm just really picky when it comes to tone. I have good tone. I just want better. If i've invested all this money into my stuff, I think it should sound the way i want. WHich i am almost at.

Sounds like a power attenuator is what you need. That way you can drive the snot out of the amp and still run at practice amp volumes. I like the THD hotplate.

Some are under the impression that Fender did this so that when people demoed them in stores they'd think 'If it's this loud on 2, imagine what it'll do cranked!'. If I recall, you can actuall get a Fender packaged audio taper pot for the volume control with the special mounting hardware to fit on the HRDlx chassis. Check out Justin's site for sure.
