Question about P-Rail

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Junior with a humbucker. I'm thinking about putting a P-Rail in it and I saw a review on youtube that said the pickup is wired with it's own selector switch in the ring. But that isn't mentioned in any of the descriptions of the pickup I've read. Is that still available?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about P-Rail

It might be referring to the Triple Shot Ring which allows you switch between all four options.

Re: Question about P-Rail

The P-Rail is a 4 conductor pickup that allows for some serious switching options, like most stock Duncan humbuckers. The ring they are referring to, the Triple Shot, is available separately.

Re: Question about P-Rail

PRAIL w/ triple shot would be the way to go....

Unless you want to add a three way switch, which you could get any three of the four combos, depending on how you wired the switch. Les Paul Jr. with a toggle might be cool.

Single/Humbucker/P90

Re: Question about P-Rail

The Triple Shot will allow you to get parallel as well as series humbucker. IMO the parallel setting is much more useful than the series setting. With a three way switch you could only get ther series humbucker in addition to the two singles.

Depending on what you are doing...

But yeah;
Single = Vintage
P90 = Vintage
Series/Hum = RAGING MOTHER #@#%%$$ing Pantera style pickup

Parallel is a way more "Vintage" type of tone that the average single/P90 user would probably want/expect. But the single + P90 just equals one loud mofo of a pickup. That's just the math and physics of it.

That said - I like it!

Re: Question about P-Rail

And again - if you do a Strat style 50's gig, a biting P90 blues set, and occasional whip this guitar out for Megadeth....Humbucker Prailz will work great.
