Question about Screamin Demon & Pearly Gates

Hi all,

I have some problems with my Gibson LP DC Standard. I've purchased the Screamin Demon and Pearly gates but it sounds terrible. Should I use 500k Pots or 250k? How will it affect the sound? The wiring schematics for 2 humbuckers 1 tone 1 vol and 3-way switch has a .047 resistor inbetween the tone and the volume pot. Is this necessary? How does it affect the sound when it's not placed there?

Thats the cap for the tone control. If you leave it out, you won't have a tone control.

Which will, of course, make the sound very bright.
