Question About Wiring Diagram - 2h_1v_2t_3w_1pp

I have a question about the wiring diagram for 2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 2 tones, 3 way switch, 1 push/pull.

On the diagram, the push/pull switch shows the red and white wire pairs for both pickups separate in one position (normal humbucker wiring) and both pairs tied together in the other. If is intended to be a coil tap, wouldn't there would be a ground wire for the connected position? If this diagram is correct, what does it do to wire both pairs of red and white wires together without grounding them?

Thanks for any input on this.

Welcome to the forum

Yeah it's missing a connection from that bridged black wire on the switch to the solder blob on the back of the pot.

That's what I thought. I appreciate the quick reply. Thanks for clarifying this, now on to wiring the thing...

It links them in parallel. Sounds cool...lots of swampy squawk.

So my Nashville Strat will become a Swamp Strat. :D I'll try that, then. I like the potential there. Too bad the diagram doesn't have any explanation about that. Thanks for the tip.

The p/p just splits the coils by sending the red and white wires of both pups to ground (missing in the diagram). The 3-way switch in the middle position puts the pups in parallel.

I have two buckers and a 3-way Tele pickup switch. I have 1 master volume and can go with either 1 or 2 tones. How would I wire the two pickups with a series/parallel switch and still leave each pickup individually in series? Would that use a 4-way pickup switch as shown here http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=tele_2h_4ws (the diagram has the switch labeled as a 3-way but it looks like a 4-way)?

Is there a way to do it with the 3-way selector and a DPDT switch? Is that what you're describing, GuitarDoc?

Moderators, you may want to split this off into a separate thread or I can re-post it as one, if you like.

The pickups themselves are outstanding and compliment each other nicely. I can go from a smooth jazzy dark on the neck to a watery Tele bright on the bridge.

I tried the coil tap. It worked fine. My humbuckers give nice, clear highs and lows in normal mode. Single coil mode was not very interesting, though. Not my sound, for sure.

It links them in parallel. Sounds cool...lots of swampy squawk.
I'll try a series/parallel switch next. I expect that will be more of something to get excited about. Thanks for the description.

Thanks, Funkfingers. Yes, I started a thread on this elsewhere and did find a diagram to do just that. It looks like the thing to do.
