Re: Question for Duncan the company

I found some of the comments directed towards Derek and the company completely out of line and downright insulting.

To the same extent that's you ask people now to attack the company, I'd have to ask that you not take it upon yourself to be their internet forum hero protector guardian.

In this case they decided not to spend that budget on this opportunity. ... I am sure the marketing folks at SD have their hands full already.

This was Derek Duncan's statement:

When it came down to selecting only one PAF model for the roundup, we couldn’t come to a consensus and we didn’t feel we had anything as far as a “new and exciting” version to showcase. With a dozen or so PAF era models in our lineup, it can be difficult to find “the one."

Notice there is no mention of budget or resource limitations. You don't need to generate specious explanations on their behalf, they've got that handled.

Question for Duncan the company

Duncan may CHOOSE to have a focus group on which one or two pickups to send out for a magazine shoutout, but it doesn't mean they have to. Any more than making it an act of congress or moving at a glacial pace...none of which I am saying they are doing or not doing. But it is silly to assume that every company handles their marketing the same way. Did Seymour hiring a marketing firm to re-wind or make stuff for Page or Beck. He was simply there on the scene with maybe a bit of the old word of mouth....which took little more than his time and effort. The same time and effort it could take to pick a few models to send in for a shoutout. What's that cost? Shipping and a bit of time and a pickup or two returned in a 'used' status? Any mop up work could just be throwing out a link to the article. It really doesn't take a degree in marketing to do that. Maybe we should leave the misinformation to the experts

No there isn't. I was not explaining SD's situation directly I was trying to illustrate the point that it takes a little more than dropping a pickup in a box.

Do you have to seek an argument with someone in every one of your posts? This is a trend I just noticed.

yea, I picked that up a while ago from him. 416 posts and he's already got the knives out.

Look, this thread brought all the combative regular posters in for a swing. The lookyloos and trolls like myself also joined in to fuel the conflagration into a firestorm that even the SON OF THE COMPANY COULDN'T SMOTHER.

It's a boon to the character of the mods and the Duncans to put up with this B.S. for this long, frankly. Fair discussion is fair, but if I were Evan Skopp/any of the gaolers I'd have shot this thread in the face twice after Derek posted. Everyone's running on internet inertia and wanting to get the last word in. Everyone's got the hackles up and it's even drifting into other areas as overreactions to posts.

Re: Question for Duncan the company

this thread needs to fall into a bottomless pit, never to be seen again.

what a hideous blight on the pretty face that is this forum.

This is pretty mild compared to the old days.

Re: Question for Duncan the company

If you all have ever seen some of the pure hate-mongering that goes on in other forums, (and I'm sure you have), this thread is like . . . discontent-Lite.
I love spirited debates. You get to know where people are coming from. And going to. :D

I haven't seen anything evil here yet.
