I`m was toying with the idea of getting a DSL 401 . Does it come with a 8 ohm or 16 ohm speaker? I`ve read that it can drive a 16ohm cab ? When the 401 is driving a cab does it bypass the internal speaker?

Thanks!

On the back there are two speaker outs, switchable from 8 to 16 ohms, the internal speaker is 16, but I drive an 8 ohm 4x12 with mine.

funny and true story about the DSL 401. A while back I saw a Steve Morse clinic, during the clinic he said that he hadnt had time to set up his amp's tone. Said that all amps have a sweet spot. He then started to tinker with the knobs and could not get the sounds he wanted.

He finally said "Well MOST amps have a sweet spot.....this one doesn't and if I were a professional I'd have tried all 3 out before you people got in here."

Does the internal speaker in the 401 stay on when driving a cab or does it shut off?

if don't want it to stay on you can just unplug it from the input

Your saying it does stay on after plugging in a cab? I`ve got a 2x12 cab that I`d like to run with the stock speaker.
