Re: Question for those with SSL-5/SSL-1/SSL-1 combo
I am very pleased with the results on a SSL-1/SSL-1/SSL-5 set in my ash body strat. I think the transsition is smooth and I can get five distinct tones depending on the switch and tone settings. But I also wired the SSL-5 to the middle tone pot, so I can control the bridge tone and I find that gives even more flexibility. Overall I could not be happier, especially given the price point of the SD pickups.
I should also mention that I do not use a RWRP in the middle position and I find the hum to be the same regardless of what position the selector switch is in. It is not too loud for me and it vintage strat as far as I am concerned. I think it also evens out the volume between the five positions.
