Question for UK people.

I know that in the UK there is a difference in the amount of power that comes out of your power sockets. What do you use for small practice amps? A friend of mine in London wants to get into guitar playing, and got an American amp off ebay, and it fried the moment she plugged it in and turned it on.

Any ways to avoid this or general suggestions for a good beginner practice amp that wouldn't, you know, fry. I was suggesting Roland Minicubes and Vox DA5's till she reminded me of that. Then again, both are battery powered so..

Re: Question for UK people.

Well you could just get a voltage downgrader or whatever they are called that just change the voltage so that american amps work with UK power or just buy amps in england some of the best amps are from their. UK has heaps of amps imported from America that aren't that different in price so you should be able to get anything there.

Re: Question for UK people.

Well, if she buys it from a UK dealer then it will be fine. All amp manufacturers make the same amps for the UK market as they do fo the US one, but your friend was unlucky enough to buy a USA model off of ebay. The seller should have made that clear. As long as she buys the UK version of the micro cube or the Vox then it will work fine.
