Question on Blues Deluxe vs. Hot Rod Deluxe

Are the only differences between these amps the "More Drive" feature?

Also, how are the cleans on these amps? I've heard the cleans on the hot rod deville, and they are very nice!

Re: Question on Blues Deluxe vs. Hot Rod Deluxe

i'm kind of wondering the same thing... i see in a store here a used early 90's Tweed Covered Deluxe before the Hot Rod series

Re: Question on Blues Deluxe vs. Hot Rod Deluxe

Yes and no . . . huh ?

Yes, on paper they only differ due to the "More Drive", but many folks say that the Blues DeLuxe's Drive Ch. sounds better then the Hot Rod's (1st) Drive Channel due to a lack of extra electric for that 2nd More Drive Channel !

Best would be to try and test 'em side by side !
Me, i woulf take the Blues, because i only need a 2 channel amp and the TWEED looks wicked - the Hot Rods look just soooo bland :(

Re: Question on Blues Deluxe vs. Hot Rod Deluxe

I thought that the Blues Deluxe was voiced a little darker than the Hot Rod, but I could be wrong on this. . .

Re: Question on Blues Deluxe vs. Hot Rod Deluxe

A local shop has a tweed covered BLues Deluxe. I need to go back and try it out and see how it sounds. It looks really sweet. I wonder since it has the Deluxe name does the Blues Deluxe have tweed derived circuit? Is it a 5E3 circuit in the form of a PCB? The Fender Amp Field Guide doesn't say what the circuit type is. It does use 6L6 tubes instead of the 6V6 that that original Deluxes used.

Yes there are a couple of circut changes besides the more drive switch but I cant recall them right now. This was all VERY well explained over at the Fender Discussion Page a couple years ago. A search should provide you with all the info you need.

No it's not a PCB tweed deluxe, it's an all new design but it's generally "based" on the Bassman with several changes. Again a search of the FDP should tell all.
