Question on R7 Goldtop

Hello all,

I have a quick question on the '57 Les Paul Goldtop. I've been lusting over it for a while, but I've never seen a toggle switch on those guitars with a cap.

Check the link:

Notice that the toggle switch doesn't have the cream or white cap as is standard on nearly ever other Les Paul. Is this done for historical accuracy, or is the cap just left off prior to shipment?

Thanks...

william

Re: Question on R7 Goldtop

Mine came with the cap...that's bizarre.

Great guitar, BTW, great value.

Re: Question on R7 Goldtop

That's odd that the pictures don't show a plastic tip. When they ship Gibsons, they put those in a little baggy for two reasons. If the guitar's top endures any pressure during shipping, it can crack the tip, or worse, damage the surrounding wood.
The other reason is so the dealer can choose to install it or not, depending on the
class of their clientele. That model should have the aged orange tip.

Re: Question on R7 Goldtop

Just call Brandon at Willcutts and ask him. He probably took it off to keep it from getting stolen. I'm sure the aged tip is in a baggie in the case.

Re: Question on R7 Goldtop

The cap should be in the case. It was probably removed so it wouldn't get misplaced during shipment.

Re: Question on R7 Goldtop

Actually Gibson ships with the toggle tip uninstalled because they tend to break during shipping. It's in a bag in the case compartment.

Joneser is right , Gibson don't put the tips for shipping damage reason.
On the gibson customshop web site you can see pics of guitars ready for shipment and they don't have the drop on !
