question regarding wiring

have a guitar with a tb 4 in the bridge, sl-2 in the neck, together with standard 5 way switch. this means that position 2 3 and 4 gives me nothing different, anyone know if theres anything usefull/cool i can do with the red/white wires on on the tb 4? like if id solder the red and white from the tb 4 into pos 3 on the switch, what would that give me in pos 2 3 and 4?

any help appreciated!

Maybe someone creative could come up with something, but if I were you, I'd get a 3 way tele switch, & a push/pull pot for splitting the humbucker.
With a standard 5 way, the most you'll gain would possibly be position 2 being neck, & hb split, 3 being hb split, 4, well you can't have hb split, & hb full at the same time.
Maybe look into a superswitch, lots of possibilities there, & prolly a few headaches as well.

what i figured, pos 4 and 5 will be the same. is there a way i can modify the switch so that no signal at all goes through on pos 4 ? ie complete silence

If it's you're typical Asian switch, it can be done, but it's tricky.
If you open up the switch (typical Asian) you'll see the copper "pads" that the legs of the switch engage to. (don't lose the little ball)
The switch has one leg with "2" contactors, as it rotates around, you'll notice that at pos 2, & 4, it contacts 2 of the copper pads at he same time.
There are 2 sides to the switch, input, & output, you can "CAREFULLY" apply fingernail polish, or scotch tape over the copper where the 2 conductors contact the pads in pos 4, on either, or both sides of the switch. this should "kill the signal in pos 4.

yeah its the standard 5 way that comes with strats, looks the same as the asian ones but this ones made in us i think. so if i do this, will pos be silent, or noisy ? will it still be grounded properly ?

Just remember, over time, either tape, or nail polish will wear.
If you're happy with the way it works, a permanent fix would be to scrape the copper away (VERY CAREFULLY)
Be careful not to stress the little "tangs that hold the switch together, if you break them, it's a new swith

OK, that's not the typical Asian switch I was referring to, & will be a lot harder to modify.

Looking at the long contactor to the far right, mark where it makes contact with the conductor, (just draw right down the middle of the contactor & out onto the conductor)
roll the switch around to pos 3 (straight up), this will give you the most room to work.
Since the conductor is solid metal, scraping isn't going to work, fn polish is likely going to be the easiest thing to do. Just blot out the area where pos 4 is.

A tele switch (3 way) & a push pull pot will be your best bet, or a superswitch.

ah i see, so i need to blur out the area where the long contaactor makes contact when in pos 4, whats fn polish ?
