QUESTION - removing anchors?

Hi - I'd like to remove the body anchors for the TOM bridge and tailpiece on my SG. What is the best/easiest way to take them out of the guitar? I was going to leave in, but given that I'm re-finishing the guitar it probably makes more sense to take them out to do the job correctly.

Any tips? Thanks!

Unscrew the post.
Drop a small screw(or a ball bearing if you have one) into the opening.
Screwhead down if you can.
Screw the post back into the anchor, slowly.
As the post engages the little screw (or ball bearing), the anchor will start to rise.
You should be able to remove the entire anchor this way.

Re: QUESTION - removing anchors?

^ Slick. But you have to have the balls to do it. :D

Sorry - I just had to.

Re: QUESTION - removing anchors?

You can also use an appropriately sized socked and a screw/washer that matches the thread of the bushing, but I like the Mojomonster method.

Re: QUESTION - removing anchors?

Heat the anchor with a soldering iron to cook any glue in there first, but yeah, what Mojo said.

This is how I've done it - it's simple, cheap, and it works.

Re: QUESTION - removing anchors?

I use the Stew-Mac tool, but that will work also. Make sure the ground wire doesn't come out when you have the anchor out.
