Questions about doing guitar graphics (paint and whatnot)

I want to do a guitar with original artwork on it in the future. I have a good friend who is ridiculously good at drawing, but she only works with pencils, no colors/ink. How would I go about doing this? What do I use to paint the body for a drawing-friendly surface? Is it just clear coat on top of that? I'm a painter, so I plan on doing some groovy graphics to go along with it.

Thank you!

Have you thought about scanning the pencil artwork,And then print it
out on decal paper?

Hmm, haven't considered that. Does it require a laser printer?

A ink jet will work fine. Let the image dry overnight. The next day spray
some clear acrylic on it, Or I should say MIST IT ON !! better 3 light coats
Than One heavy Cuz' the ink will run. Let it dry again. Than apply the next
day. You can get decal paper at any good arts& crafts store or ebay. If
I remember correct your pretty good with Adobe photoshop? So it should
be easy for you.:D
