questions about Phat Cat (and its competitors...)

Two groups of questions, I guess:

one:
Could I put a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat in the bridge position of a two-humbucker pickup guitar, and leave the neck HB in place ?? Or would there be problems with phase mismatch 50% of the time ?? Could I switch the "hot" and "ground" leads of the Phat Cat without making the Phat Cat's "humbucker cover" "hot" (and is there a "workaround" if the cover buzzes when you touch it ??)

(I'm thinking of upgrading a Gibson SG "Faded": by the way, has Gibson stopped making these ??)...also, would I be unhappy with the pot values used on a humbucker guitar, with one of these Phat Cat-like single-coil pickups in there ??

two:
Are there other Phat Cat-like pickups out there, and what do people think of them ?? (Doesn't Harmonic Design make one...??)

As ever, thanks in advance...I have already posted my message on the WeberVST guitars forum, for those who would like to see what some have suggested...

I do think that there are more but I don't know for sure.

Bill Lawrence makes the L-490 and the L-495. They are noise canceling p-90 sounding pickups in a humbucker size.

My Les Paul Special has stock Gibson P90's, and uses 500k pots just like a humbucker guitar. It sounds great. Kent Armstrong also makes a P90 in a humbucker size.

You can probably switch the wiring position of the HB to match phase (3 or 4 conductor). Not the Phat Cat.

Re: questions about Phat Cat (and its competitors...)

i have Kent Armstrongs in my hollowbody. Now the guitar has "balls".

Re: questions about Phat Cat (and its competitors...)

I had a Harmonic Design humbucker size P-90 in my Hamer Custom, along with a Duncan Custom Custom as the bridge pickup. I sold the HD after about 6 months. I liked it alot at first but eventually felt it was a little "hard" and "bright" sounding. More like a huge Strat pickup tone rather than a P-90 tone. The polepieces are non-adjustable in the HD and quite large. Whereas the polepieces in the PhatCat are adjustable.

The HD was a good sounding pickup though...just not the exact tone I wanted. I think Scott at HD makes great sounding pickups. I have a set of his humbuckers and they have a very refined but ballsy tone that reminds me of something that a player like Larry Carlton might enjoy using.

I have played the Gibson P-94s and would definitely recommend the phat cats. Phat Cats sound like real P90s, which is essentially what the are, except with a larger metal cover. They have a lot of punch and warmth to them and sound great clean or dirty.
