Quick Stag Mag Question

Any idea if it would be possible to put a gold cover on a Stag Mag? No idea if the pole spacing/diameter would work with a stock cover...

The stag mag poles are wider in diameter than the typical screw holes would be. Looking at the diagrams, I think a humbucker cover without holes might not even fit overtop because of the height of the poles above the bobbin.

Look for a used 'The Mag', which have flat poles.

Actually....

You can fit a cover over the stagmag. The magnetic poles have the same diameter as the slugs and you can have slugs through the covers. The bobbin is a standard bobbin after all. And if you want a closed cover, no problem. Just push the polepieces down. The wire is wound on a bobbin, not on top of the magnets. I know because I took a few apart, and did all of the above myself.

I stand corrected. I had thought that the polepieces were strat polepieces (4.95mm diameter) - which are just slightly wider than regular humbucker slugs (4.75mm diameter).
