Quickie Cool Rails update.

Whatever problem I was having with the Cool Rails mixed with my Distortion, is now a moot point. I put it in the bridge of my Strat-o-clone, where it belongs, and it sounds great! :)

The cheapy pup that was in there from the factory was ok in the #4 notch position, but was useless by itself. Ear-piercing and ice-picky. The Cool Rails maintains the "twang" that you expect from a bridge pup, but does it with style. Its rich and powerful, but gains quite a bit of low end compared to the original. Not too much low end, just enough to make it completely usable by itself.

I can't wait to replace the neck and middle with something to complete the set. The Cool Rails is . . . :cool3:

Re: Quickie Cool Rails update.

Glad to hear that the Cool Rails is working out for you. Sounds like you got a real winner there.

Re: Quickie Cool Rails update.

Thanks. Funny too, this puts me back on track with a recommendation I got from you a long time ago. :laugh2:

If I recall, you recommended an HR/VR/CR combo. Because of the nice deal I got from Stratfan, I'll have a CR in the bridge instead, but I think the Vintage Rail would still be a good middle match. I'm just not sure if another CR or maybe something else, would be best for the neck.

A CR/VR/CR could be a nice combo, though.

Re: Quickie Cool Rails update.

I'm glad the Cool Rails found a "home". I did like the quack it gave when combined with my middle stock Strat pup. I'm no good at describing sounds, but IMO it seemed to be a "beefier" quack as compared to the normal thin/hollow sounding quack with stock pups.

Exactly. The CR brings a bit of low-end to the mix, that the stock single didn't have. Still has #4 quack and chime, but fuller, and more pleasing. :)
