Quilter Amps.........Anyone try them?

I have recently played a Quilter amp and heard others play them also at a local dealer and I have to tell you that I enjoyed what I was listening to. Has anyone else played or listened to someone else play a Quilter amp? Opinions please. (Quilter amps are solid state that sound like a tube amp).

Re: Quilter Amps.........Anyone try them?

They have a bunch at a local shop. Sales guy says people have been coming from far and wide to purchase them. I have not tried them out yet, as the store has kind of "cold" vibe towards trying stuff out sometimes, and the amps themselves are out of my price range. A 1x12 Aviator model is pushing $900 if I remember right.

I'm sure they are of high quality, but I wonder if they are pricing them so high simply to get the attention of the tube amp community.

If you paid a grand for a SS amp
You wouldn't want to look like a moron and give a bad review
It would make it hard to unload

I think right now they're aimed at the jazz guy, like a replacement for Polytones. The wattage output on them is massive for their size and apparently they're fairly tubelike in reaction. Clean tube like a Fender or Vox, not overdriven. They have a mid hump knob on them to move the voicing around a bit. They're supposed to take pedals marvelously (so the salesmen say) and are very lightweight so definitely aimed at aging gig players too.
Personally if you already have a cab I'd suggest the pedal block thing they have. It's a 200w amp I think, and it can sit on your pedalboard. No speakers though. They're also $400 instead of $900.

I haven't seen one around here yet at the Mom n' Pop shops. Does GC have them?

No....GC doesn't have them. I suppose it could be difficult to try one when there are not so many dealers who have them yet.

I like the idea as a backup amp for their small one, but the 44 magnum is smaller and way cheaper
