Rails Hybrid?

I was wondering if it was possible to make a hybrid out of two rails? For example, taking one coil from the Cool Rails neck and Hot Rails neck and combining them?

Re: Rails Hybrid?

It would be a precision job for sure, the covers don't come off without some serious work. It would be easier to get it done at the Custom Shop.

Re: Rails Hybrid?

Definitely not something I would do at home.

Re: Rails Hybrid?

You could put a hot rails and a cool rails side by side and split them, putting the split coils in series.

I see even more potential if you do something like a Cruiser Bridge and a Hot Rails Neck. A Cruiser/Satch Track could be even crazier since both are already hybrids themselves.

Re: Rails Hybrid?

you might be able to do it with one of the older ones, without the cover. I don't know if I'd be brave enough not to ruin 2 pickups trying to get covers off of the modern ones. The question becomes, what are you trying to do with this?

Re: Rails Hybrid?

I know the OP is talking strat sized. Still, I thought immediately of the Fuglybucker.

With the exception of the Pro Track and Super Distortion S, yes.

...at least these are the only ones that are not listed as having the 4,501,185 patent.
