Ran the old Carvin head out for the 1st time what a TONE!

The 1991 Carvin X50 B Hot Rod Mod Head and just Wow!! I knew it was good but man was I shocked at how it flat stomps a mudhole in the Boogie DC-5 I have been running on stage at my church. Hard to tell from just the in ears but the recording from my camera told the tale. Had several out and was struggling with some of the arrangments changing + no practice with both the amp and the lineup this morning in this setting so was not stellar on the playing. Still just blow AWAY by the tones of this thing!!
Both clips no effects NOTHING just my 1995 Washburn USA MG 102 running a JB and 59 chord and the amp NOTHING ELSE HERE. Can't wait to really work with this thing and dial it in.

Rolling back the volume to clean up here at very high gain levels again absolutely NO EFFECTS. This is one VERY open organic feeling and responsive amp!

Thanks and yep they need to fix it!!
WICKED amp and still can't believe this one fell in my lap like it did. Sold the 100 watter I once had from this particular series of X amps and have regretted it for several years now. Won't make that mistake again this one is a keeper and it ain't going ANYWHERE!
PS this is running at about 4 on gain in the Hot Rod Mode. Snap that pot in and it sounds like a REALLY good JCM 800 plus has a simply fantastic clean channel. These are SO underrated it's not funny in particular these 1990-92 EL 34 versions with the Hot Rod Mod. This one sounds a LOT like a good Soldano SLO to me at higher gain. It flat screams when you get it on a 4/12 and can turn it up where it gets into power tube saturation a little!

I used a Carvin "grey fuzzy" X-100B for years. Excellent amp!!!

Re: Ran the old Carvin head out for the 1st time what a TONE!

Had the full band today and got it dialed in a lot better this morning. We usually do a new song 2 Sundays in a row to get the group familiar with it so did the song Open Up The Heavens again this morning. Was a little lower in the mix than I want now out front since it was not cutting as well after I dialed the mid and high end back a little to smooth things out a little but is an easy fix.
Ran a 100 watt version on a 4/12 for several years think this one sounds even better than it did. This is with a 1/12 cab miced and playing at pretty low volume amp really comes to life when cranked on a big cab as notes really compress and bloom like crazy with these things. This one is just an absolutely WICKED sounding amp that I am thrilled to own!!

An old Carvin head is on my GAS list. I love the tone you are getting with the beast.

The Hot Rod mod something you had done, or something they built into it? Cant check the clips at work, but will when I can..
