Re: Rando music SX les paul style guitar??

Rondo does custom orders from what I understand. Their factories are pretty flexible and supposedly more so than many US-made guitar factories.

Maybe to a degree, but not so much. I remember someone, it might have even been someone here, ordering a custom version of one of their PRS copies, and having the order cancelled, after they had to change the body shapes to the current ugly things they sell now.

You can get what you want, but there are still restrictions.

I have a Agile 3000 which I am real happy with and will buy another in the future. And I'm waiting on Thinline Tele that should be here in a few day's. Hoping it's as good as the 3000 is.

From what I understand, you can only have custom versions of the lines they offer, so they are only "semi custom"

Hmmm. I wonder why they changed it. I thought body shapes were not subject to copyright, only headstock shapes were. Maybe there were other reasons.

I was told "legal reasons". There's never a problem with Fender, but with Gibson, and apparently PRS, it's an issue.

Remember when PRS had to stop production of the Single cut, because Gibson tried to put the screws to them? And that model isn't even an exact copy. I think we all knew what was really going on, but I'll leave that be...

Re: Rando music SX les paul style guitar??

A few months ago I bought an SX Callisto Jr. Big round neck, very large frets, ceramic P-90s, tune-o-matic type bridge & tail piece. The tuners are weak, but everything else seems ok on it. It is loud acoustically, but plugged in there's a bit of a mismatch in the pickups: the neck P-90 is boomy and comes off as louder than the bridge P-90 (even with height adjustments). Sustain seems decent, no apparent cliff-edge drop-off. It came with a decent set-up (maybe passable is a better term), only had to make some minor adjustments when I switched to a heavier string gauge. At the time I bought the guitar and a gig bag for ~$150 after shipping.
