Anybody know what Kind of Pick-up Randy Rhoads used? some of the tracks he did with ozzy, the guitar just seems to have a lot of attack and a "wet" type of sound to me. Nnybody know what pick-up?
"Patent Applied For" it was a sticker put on the first gibson humbuckers that are known for having some of the best sounds (arguably of course). Its often a term used to describe pickups that sound simmilair to those original pickupsrockinangus said:What is PAF? whats that stand for?
the SuperDistortion is the name of the pickup in the bridge position the DiMarzio PAF is the name for the pickup in the neck positionrockinangus said:Thanks, I was looking for it on american musical and could find superdistortion paf i jsut saw superdistortion, Thanks
If they were stock pickups, he took the covers off.Tux789 said:i believe it was stock pickups in the custom les paul,
distortion/JB in the rhoads. Weird combo. Especially since a Jackson V is a very bright guitar. That's why his sound is incredibly IN YOUR FACE.distortion/jazz in the jackson rhoads

The covers never came off his Les Paul pickups. They have gold covers and remained on. Of his 3 main axes, the two V's had no covers and his Les Paul had covers.dnewhous said:If they were stock pickups, he took the covers off.

My thoughts exactly.... incredible player, god-awful tone. Talk about top-heavy.Aceman said:Play like randy - something to aspire to. Sound like him- uh -no thanks.
