Rate the new Marshalls please!

Re: Rate the new Marshalls please!

'90s Korg Vox amps vs. the new Chinese-made Vox amps? Celestion?

are you talking small end solid state stuff? Celestion i will disagree with... while they did try really hard and even moved machines and improved quality in some areas people still hunt for pre chinese v30's (cause they really do sound different) so the reputation didnt remain fully intact.

Re: Rate the new Marshalls please!

Why would I talk about the small end stuff? I'm talking about AC15s and AC30s etc.; Vox's flagship models. The Custom Classics sound different because of circuit changes that Lyle Caldwell has addressed over at MLP, but people are still happily buying them. I've personally never handled a '90s Korg Vox, but I've seen reports of terrible reliability on the '90s models which has been addressed with the Custom Classic series. I know there's a few threads on this forum about the issue, such as: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?242113-Vox-ac-30-Brit-made-or-Chinese

We'll just have to agree to disagree on Celestions then. I'm happy with the new Chinese made speakers, and while there is a market for the Pre-MIC stuff, they're still seen as a quality brand.

I didnt know what line you were talking about thats why i asked. AC30's have had many fluctuations throughout their life span... If you cherry pick this specific vs this specific then you might come up with an instance but when i say reputation i mean on a whole and maybe its just me and my cynicism but ac30's have never been beacons of reliablity. The damn solid state vox buckingham i have is a better made amp than the ac30's.

Re: Rate the new Marshalls please!

as an example, the asian-made vs UK-made discussion for marshalls is a clear cut case. the asian-made marshalls have way more QC issues than the UK-made ones. my UK-made marshalls go through so much abuse (2-3 hour cranked, continuous sessions at a time), i have built up a trust they'd never die.

i was shocked to find out the new voxes are made in asia.

there's no denying that asian-made stuff is generally garbage. you could argue chinese celestions are just as good as UK ones. there are two reasons for that; speakers are low tech compared to amps and celestion have a huge QC presence in those chinese shops.

As has been said before in this thread, it's not that they're made in China but rather how they're spec'd. Look at the Squier Classic Vibe guitars. Or Jet City. Id rate them as gig worthy right out of the box as any other quality made guitar.

The Chinese factories will use whatever good materials or crap that they're told to use.

I'm shocked to **** that I picked up a Bugera 1960 Infinium and I've been beating the **** out of it with every control filed and it hasn't even blinked. It's made in China by Behringer. Never thought I'd ever think a Behringer piece wasn't a steaming pile of Monkey crap but this thing rocks.

Re: Rate the new Marshalls please!

In the case of Marshall amps, the specs are made in the U.K., shipped to china and produced on the same machine they have in the U.K.
What is so hard to understand about it.
Reputation is between your ears.

The same design would be atleast as ****ty if it was made in the U.K.
