Rattling sound coming from Fender Classic Player Jaguar bridge

Hi,

This seems to be a common problem among all Jaguars and Jazzmasters. I've tried a lot of things (guitar setup, cleaning tune-o-matic bridge, “filing” the saddles) and the rattling won't stop.

Should I just buy an aftermarket tune-o-matic bridge? If so, can I install it myself or I should really let a repair shop decide on the bridge to use and install it for me?

Not all toms come with the saddles notched so in saying that you might need a tech to do it.:33:

Re: Rattling sound coming from Fender Classic Player Jaguar bridge

Most people change to the Tune-O-Matic in an effort to avoid rattling. It shouldn't be much more susceptible than a Gibson, even counting the lesser string angle. Does the rattle stop when you press the bridge? How did you file the saddles? Is it a Tune-O-Matic with a retaining wire?

Do you have that stock fender bridge? That's the culprit. I think a buzz stop (!!!) would also fix your issue.

:P He said Tune-O-Matic (boasts the owner of three Jazzmaster/Jaguars with stock Fender bridges, no buzz stops, and no rattle)

I see. That's odd. I had a japan one that never gave me any noise like that. I don't understand.

It seems to be cheaply made. The saddles were quite jangly when I removed the bridge. It doesn't have a retaining wire. It seems to stop when I press on the bridge? Kinda hard to tell.

I'm not a Tune-O-Matic expert, but I've encountered some that seem like junk (but the sort with the wire is the worst/most bothersome.) I have a Classic Player Jazzmaster, but switched it for a stock Fender rocking bridge actually. Not that that's for everybody. There are a lot of upgrade options for Tune-O-Matics, without hearing much more about the problem that's where I'd look.
