Rattling TOM Saddles

The saddles on my Tonepros TOM are rattling quite noticably when I hit strigns fairly hard (most noticable on G string), is there anything I can do to stop this?

I top-wrap the strings over the STP, so there is less of an angle, maybe if I raise the action a little it might help?

Other than that I don't know what to do, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Rattling TOM Saddles

Clear nail polish. Put it on the sides of the saddles, just enough to make a connection, don't gob it on.

Nail polish is clear, unlike SuperGlue it easily breaks and is easily cleaned up. Don't get it on your finish.

Re: Rattling TOM Saddles

The nail polish works. And are you sure it's the saddle? I had a similar problem once, and I found out it was actually the intonation adjustment screw that was rattling.

Yes, call Tonepros and tell them. They will send you a new one free of charge.

I had the same problem and that's what they did. Killer customer service.

He's right. Tonepros has the best customer service. My guess is that their cost is low and their profit margin is big, so they have no qualms about tossing you a free one. I asked them for a tiny C clip for my McCarty Tonepros saddle, and in 2 days, I had a whole new bridge!

I've also seen guys take a tiny piece of crumpled paper, and jam it underneath the vibrating part. You can't really see it, and it's a clean way to fix the problem quickly.

Thanks for the info!!

Thinking about it, it could be the screw, I will get hold of the CS dept. and see what they say..

Nail polish and paper are good tips too, thanks.

Re: Rattling TOM Saddles

I emailed Tonepros and like you guys said, they are sending me out a new one.

Can't argue with that. :)

See that's the thing, their products are pricey, but they make up for it by taking care of the customer no questions asked. I don't mind paying a little extra knowing if I have a problem it will be "no problem".
