I notice that some models have the "Seymour Duncan" logo on them. Particulary, the Sh-2 Jazz PuPs.

Are all Jazz PuPs branded this way. I find it more appealing to use the SD pups without the logo on them. Do you guys have a prefereance. does anyone know how to remove the logo safely without damaging the finish on the pickup.

Maybe not all Jazz Pups have the logo on them? what do you guys think.

Deftgala, All SD pups have the logo unless otherwise ordered. You can remove the paint with fingernail polish remover and a q-tip.

The 59 doesn't have the logo because it's a supposed to be a recreation of a vintage pickup which would not have had a Seymour Duncan logo on it.

The Jazz, JB, Custom, Custom Custom, etc. are all new creations of Seymour Duncan. So they get the logo.

Brasso metal polish is the best product for removing the logo.

Fingernail polish remover might melt the plastic. Any product with Xylene, Acetone or lacquer thinner in it will definately melt the plastic.

Use BRASSO. It'll actually improve the appearance of the pickup and polish it up.

Yeah...I don't think I'd recommend nail polish remover. If one drop gets on your guitar's finish, you're screwed! Most good drummers own a can of Brasso, since it's what they use to take the tarnish off their cymbals. Ask a drummer for a tiny amount.

I "restored" a Duncan pup not too long ago. A simple felt pad on a Dremel tool takes it right off.

Mind you . . . I didn't actually want to take it off. :yell:

My "Aph" 'bucker set were bought brand new and didn't come with the SD logo eiither.

There have been a few jams where someone asked me about my sound and knew that the PuPs weren't stock. It would strike up a conversation with other players, you know. On the flipside, having the logo on the guitar is great advertisement for Seymour!

I believe you can order any pickup without a logo, even if that model has a logo by default. You just might have to wait a while for it.

BRASSO works and doesn't damage the pickup at all. I used it to remove the logo from a Duncan Custom. Just apply the BRASSO with a soft cloth and rub.

You are right, APH's dont have logos standard from the factory.

So with the idea that '59's are modelled after vintage 1959 humbuckers and would not have had a logo, whats the deal with Alnico Pro II's? I didn;t think they were modelled after a vintage pickup. Why the no logo?
