Really cheap necks on the bay

OK I have this Tele I've been working on, it's a lefty that I'm building for a freind of mine. I have everything I need, other than the neck. I've been looking for a neck for it, and right now there seems to be dozens of them on Ebay, for peanuts. I usually get Allparts necks, and have had good luck with them. THose seem to be around $150, and there's all kinds of Chinese ones right now, for as little as $25... I probably know the answer to this, but as I'm looking at them, the phrase "You get what you pay for..." keeps playing in the back of my mind. I've gotten two necks from GFS, one was warped (which they replaced quickly, no questions asked) and the new one they sent out was fine. Those were pretty cheap, though... I just don't want to waste $ or dick around with trying to return something over there (or just have my CC stolen)
Has anyone on here bought one of these stupid-cheap necks? How has it worked out for you?

I got one off Amazon
For $25
Amazon is a buffer tween you and the identity thief

The maxim 'you get what you pay for' - yep you know the answer already. Do you really want to lumber your mate down with something that really has a better than even chance of being crap?? Being a lefty myself its not like you can simply go out and get a whole heap of lefty parts for a quick swap either.

Do it right and go for something like Warmoth. Get an unfinished neck and add a couple of truoil coats and you've got a great chassis with the smoothest feel you could possibly want.

And yeah, I know I should just get a good one, but there's like, 3 Allparts ones, and 50,000 of the cheap ones on right now. There's just so many ads flooding on there, that I was tempted... But yeah, I should just do some OT at work and cough up the $ for a good one.

Re: Really cheap necks on the bay

So I bought one of the ~thirty dollar ebay necks. How is it?

-The tone was bright orange. The finish was satin (unstated on the auction) and VERY unconvincing. However... A bit of buffing compound mellowed the color (which seems applied thin,) and eliminated the nasty satin (I hate satin, everyone else likes it.) Still a bit orange for my taste, but about as orange as my genuine 66 Fender neck; just looks weird without wear

-The frets are shiny, smooth, no sprout out of the box. That's better than a LOT of Squiers/imports

-There's a bit of flame/"motion" in the grain in places! Luck of the draw. Also, it's shaped in a very nice, smooth way; more consistent shaping than a lot of import guitars/MiM Fenders I've played

-Most disappointing; pronounced neck heel at like the 14th fret. Ugly and will probably be uncomfortable

-I haven't played it yet, so can't comment on stability/durability. This is supposed to be a "temporary" neck for a body that's also cheap (but not that cheap.) It's far from the worst quality neck I've ever seen... But then again I haven't actually played it

How was the neck? Was it OK or did you have to fix it to be able to use it?

I swapped the plastic nut
It's was glued in which made it a pain to get out
Other than that
Frets were good not perfect needed a little dressing on the edges
